Senior SW Engineer (Voice Enabled-Navigation/GPS)

Location: Bellevue, WA
Employment Status: Full Time, Permanent
As a Software Engineer you will work in small and flexible teams with the latest technologies on exciting software applications in the areas of speech-enabled navigation. You will be contributing to speech enabling automotive and mobile navigation systems (or similar kinds of devices where speech is bringing clear added value) developing speech recognition capabilities and text-to-speech output of route guidance and traffic information. Cutting edge applications such as these are part of a growing set of applications that enhance consumer's access to information while they are mobile.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software in C, C++, C# languages, or other selected languages for speech enabling communication and navigation products
  • Develop and test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
  • Lead and participate in the design and development of micro-device hardware and software navigation and other applications. 
  • Write architectural and design specifications
  • Participate in product definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs and perform other duties as necessary

The candidate will support the customer’s applications from design through production phases by leading architectural discussions, providing schematic and lay-out reviews, as well as assist in prototype bring-up.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, or above/equivalent education or experience
  • Experience and/or training in high level languages such as C, C++, C#, as well as micro computer architecture and/or Assembly language programming
  • Experience and/or training in data structures or object oriented design methodology
  • Strong math background
  • Experience with GPS and navigation systems
  • Experience with speech recognition technology
  • Strong background in programming mapping applications and map data 
  • Experience and/or training in written and presentational communication
  • Innovative, creative and passionate about quality

Other education and/or experiences in development platform and technology, as required for the specific projects he/she will develop. For example, Window CE, Window Mobile, Symbian, Palm, Pocket PC, J2ME, J2EE, BREW, and Bluetooth
