Senior Manager or Director, Product Marketing

We are recruiting a leader to help drive the definition, awareness and sales of our client’s software products. As the Director, Product Marketing, you must have a passion for creating compelling messages and sales tools, have a familiarity with HCM and HR software, have obtained previous experience supporting strategic enterprise sales efforts, and possess a resourceful attitude required for success in a dynamic startup.

This is a critical role that needs a motivated, experienced marketer who can demonstrate a track record of high productivity on tight deadlines. This is a foundational role in an early stage company that will own all outbound messaging and sales tools and serve as a thought leader externally in the industry and a team leader inside the company.

Also, as a member of our client’s management team, the Director, Product Marketing also will be expected to contribute to product and company strategy. Superior oral and written communications evidence and skills are a necessary component of the candidate's profile.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of external and internal resources to create world class product collateral and sales tools.
  • Oversee the definition, implementation and maintenance of our client’s external web properties.
  • Identify, segment and communicate with end customers.
  • Serve as a thought leader on HCM/HR innovations in the external community through blog postings, conference participation, and other outbound communications.
  • Work closely with sales force to develop and execute sales support programs and sales tools.
  • Budget management, track and cost allocation, drive efficiencies.
  • Write, proofread and edit, and manage external and internal resources to accomplish these tasks.
  • Define, and drive direct market research to gain knowledge about customer requirements and attitudes.
  • Manage external creative resources and recruit and develop an internal product marketing team.
  • Lead creation of product messaging, sales tools, web and print collateral and other materials.
  • Research customer needs and provide input to product direction.
  • External evangelism and sales support.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4+ years experience in enterprise software product marketing to large organizations in partnership with strategic direct sales efforts
  • BA/BS degree, MBA a plus.
  • Exceptional, high output writing and editing skills in a business-to-business marketing context. (A minimum of two business-to-business technical marketing writing samples are required at application.)
  • Demonstrated capacity for developing and implementing persuasive marketing messages.
  • Aptitude for determining the optimal way to position software products in the market.
  • Proven capability to lead a team in product planning and launching software products to market.
  • Proven track record of creating and executing on high-impact go-to-market strategies.
  • Proven ability to translate technical & customer information into product requirements.
  • Passion for analyzing products, customers and market dynamics.
  • Experience managing marketing, content creation and design teams
  • Strong organizational, analytical and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity for developing and implementing persuasive marketing messages.
  • Experience marketing HCM or HR products
  • Dynamic and engaging oral communications, including public speaking, and formal presentations to senior management.
  • Experience managing marketing and design teams.
  • Experience with website usability, online surveys and focus groups.
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Strong Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are mandatory.
