QA Engineer

Location:  Bellevue, WA

Employment Status:  Temporary (Contract) W-2 or 1099

Small company in the Bellevue/Redmond area working on next generation speech recognition and intent determination is looking for an experienced QA engineer to work on the QA team to deliver top quality products to customers. Products include in car entertainment, personal navigation devices, media TV applications, and others. We work with multiple major electronic manufactures and companies. Products range from Windows based to various flavors of Linux, to Android. Target platforms range from embedded devices to PC applications, to client <> server applications.

Job Functions

  • Edit/own portions of existing test plans
  • Write test cases (manual and automation scripts)
  • Executing test runs, analyzing results & log files, filing bugs, regressing bugs, testing reports, etc
  • Champion critical and blocking issues until resolution
  • Understand our product in depth, both functionally and technically
  • Daily interaction with PM and Dev as well as other QA engineers
  • Active participant in spec reviews, bug triages, status meetings, etc
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify technology modifications that will impact the business or end users

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years direct work experience as a software test engineer
  • Ability to ramp up very quickly relying on past experience
  • Good oral and written communications skills in English
  • Strong spreadsheet and word processing skills (Excel and Word especially a big plus)
  • Organized, detail-oriented and good interpersonal skills with strong team work mentality
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle and software quality process
  • Experience testing embedded products a plus
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux (especially file/folder structure, command line usage, etc)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and own area of responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving capabilities
  • Skilled in basic batch file writing/usage
  • Very comfortable with source control
  • Big plus...
    • Good understanding of XML
    • Fluent in any non-English languages (reading and speaking)
    • Programming experience in C#
